Water Sentinels Training For New Volunteers…Is that you?

Sierra Club Water Sentinels empower local activists with the tools and knowledge to monitor water quality and expose areas where the Clean Water Act isn’t being enforced.  In Illinois, the Eagle View Group monitors Rock River tributaries – measuring turbidity, nitrogen, phosphorus, and dissolved oxygen to determine stream health.

As the sampling season kicks off this spring, the Eagle View Group is looking for new volunteers to learn how to sample water for testing.  Volunteers take water samples and physical measurements once a month during the spring, summer and fall and drop off the information and samples for chemical testing at Augustana College.

New volunteer training for water sampling is April 16, 2015 at 6:30PM.  We will meet at the picnic area on the Rock River at Black Hawk State Historic Site. There will be an Eagle View Group sign at the entrance to the area.  If you are interested in volunteering, email Kris Bergren at ishibook@hotmail.com to RSVP and for more information.
