55 bread bags! In 2001 Eagle View Group adopted a river mile, and that first year we picked up 55 plastic grocery bags and bread bags caught in rocks, stuck in the sand and floating near the shore. The next year we were down to 30 bags and the next, fewer still. Fortunately, I can say the plastic bags are no longer the main part of the trash that is lining the river’s edge. Unfortunately, there still is trash…discarded Styrofoam bait containers, food wrappers, plastic bottles, beer and pop cans…oh my!
What can you do about the litter that endangers the river wildlife, pollutes its waters and disturbs the scenic view of this mighty river? Join us on Saturday, June 13, 2015 at 10:00 to clean up our mile of Mississippi. We will meet in the parking lot east of the Celebration Belle. Grabbers, gloves and bags will be provided.
